A UK-based charity delivering culturally sensitive welfare support, mental health services, and community empowerment — across London and Bangladesh.
Jahlal Foundation was incorporated on 15 May 2026. The founder, Alhaj Mohammad Sahedur Rahman, established this charity to help people suffering from addictions such as alcohol, drug and gambling addiction, as well as mental health issues. The name Jahlal was chosen to honour his late parents and was formed using the first three letters of their names: Alhaj Mohammad Lal Miah and Alhajah Jaheda Begum.
The foundation is based in London, in the borough of Tower Hamlets, which has a large Bengali community.
Alhaj Mohammad Sahedur Rahman’s background includes working in a government department from the age of 19, in a career that lasted over 20 years. Mr Rahman has also successfully run several businesses in the food industry.
Mr Rahman is currently a member of the advisory board for NHS Mental Health and Reset, which deal with alcohol and drug-related issues. In this role, he advises on how to improve the services provided. In addition, Mr Rahman has direct personal experience of addiction and mental health issues.
